Crab Nebula
Crab Nebula
Webb's infrared eyes reveal new details in the Crab Nebula supernova, the well studied remnant of an exploded star 6,500 light-years away.
The nebula's crisp, cage-like structure of reddish filaments tracing doubly ionized sulfur, surrounding interior ridges of dust and particles in yellow, white and green.
At the nebula's center lies a bright white dot, a rapidly spinning neutron star, surrounded by wispy ribbons of radiation following the pulsar's magnetic field.
